The Marine Aquarium Council (MAC) is a non-profit organization composed of representatives of the aquarium industry, hobbyists, conservation organizations, government agencies, and public aquariums - all with a shared interest in the future of the marine aquarium industry, the marine organisms it is based on, and the habitat that supports them.

MAC's mission is to conserve coral reefs and other marine ecosystems by creating standards and certification for those engaged in the collection and care of ornamental marine life from reef to aquarium.

MAC established standards for "best practices", developing an independent system to certify compliance with these standards, and creating consumer demand and confidence for MAC certified organisms, practices and industry participants.

IMS International helped develop the scheme with MAC help them establish their third party independent certification scheme.

IMS became the first Certification Body to be Accredited to the MAC Scheme (001) and successfully Certified the first Collection Areas, Collectors, Exporters and Importers to the MAC Scheme.

The certification process took the IMS Auditors to various countries Including Fiji, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, France, UK, Bali. IMS Auditors are fully approved by MAC and are qualified PADI Divers enabling us to provide certification across the full scheme from reef to shop.
